Cash Is A Position!

As traders, we often forget that staying cash IS a position.

Our number one priority everyday is NOT to make money, but to PROTECT it.

I quickly identified the choppy price action early in the week and realized I needed to size down and take profits earlier on positions.

Understanding that the market must rest at some point after all of the crazy moves we’ve been having.

The difference between the unprofitable and the profitable is not “one takes more losses.”

But rather the unprofitable trader continues to take losses even after the market has told him that he has no edge.

The profitable trader will identify that he has no edge and press the brakes instead of trying to succeed in an environment that is designed to make you fail.

Remember guys, when you go on tilt, you should NOT be pressing the gas pedal even harder.

The market isn’t going anywhere. There will always be another move. Take a step back, regroup, and sideline yourself until the market environment changes in your favor.

Knowing what to look for and then acting on the information you have are two big steps toward becoming a consistent and successful trader.

Thanks for reading and have a great week!

It was interesting week in the markets to say the least. The S&P 500 is making all time highs with higher highs and higher lows, but the price action has had no momentum behind it.

This makes intraday trading very difficult, because there is no follow through on moves making it a very “whipsaw” environment.

Managing my swing trades is much easier in an environment like this rather than trying to scalp futures on these back and forth days.

These weeks can be tough to navigate for many intraday traders, even on a week like this I managed to stay green.

Here’s how.
