This Week’s Market Forecast… 📊
The market is looking to turn the page after a string of rough weeks. Lately, investors have been fixated on tariff talk, particularly the back-and-forth surrounding Trump’s policies. The uncertainty has kept volatility elevated, but at this point, much of the debate around tariffs has been digested.
That said, the focus may not shift too far this week. The aluminum and steel tariffs are set to take effect on Wednesday, and while I expect them to go through, I don’t anticipate a major market shock. These tariffs have been discussed at length, and the market has likely priced them in already.
Last Friday, stocks found some relief after Fed Chair Powell reassured investors that the central bank isn’t overly concerned about slowing growth or surging inflation. Powell signaled that the Fed will hold steady for now, waiting to assess the broader impact of tariffs before making any moves.
On the earnings front, this week is relatively quiet, but we’ll still get a look at consumer sentiment with reports from Ulta, Dick’s, and Oracle. More importantly, economic data will take center stage. The CPI report lands Wednesday morning, followed by the PPI report on Thursday—both key inflation indicators. To close out the week, Friday brings the Michigan consumer sentiment report, which will be interesting given the recent wave of negative data.
The market has been choppy, but that’s to be expected as investors adjust to ongoing uncertainty. While the recent dip may feel unsettling, I see it as a healthy reset. Once the dust settles on the tariff situation, I believe we’ll see a strong market rebound. In the meantime, these pullbacks present solid buying opportunities for long-term investors.
My advice? Focus on the positive and keep an optimistic outlook.
