This Week’s Market Forecast… 📊
This week, all eyes will be on the escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and China. Over the weekend, China announced new tariffs of 15% on coal and LNG imports from the U.S., prompting President Trump to respond with the promise of reciprocal tariffs on any actions China takes.
Earnings season is in full swing, with McDonald’s kicking things off on Monday. Later in the week, companies like Coca-Cola, Shopify, and Lyft will report, offering a closer look at the health of the consumer sector.
Economic data will also be in focus. Last week’s Non-Farm Payrolls (Jobs) report showed weaker job growth but a positive surprise in the unemployment rate. This week, the CPI (inflation) report on Wednesday will give us another glimpse into the economy, closely watched by the Federal Reserve.
Another major event to watch is Fed Chair Powell’s testimony to Congress on Tuesday at 10 AM EST. His comments could move the markets, and investors will be keen to see how Powell's views align with the current administration's policies.
The volatility we've seen this year is unlikely to let up anytime soon. However, this market turbulence could present strong buying opportunities for long-term investors. Patience and discipline are key, don't let short-term market movements drive your decisions.
My advice? Focus on the positive and keep an optimistic outlook.
