This Week’s Market Recap… 📊
I hope you had a Merry Christmas if you celebrate, and if not, Happy Holidays!
This week has been relatively quiet in the markets, with a full closure on Wednesday for Christmas and an early close on Tuesday for Christmas Eve.
The “Santa Claus Rally” began on Tuesday, a phenomenon spanning the last five trading days of the year and the first two of the new year. Historically, a strong rally has often signaled a positive outlook for the year ahead.
On Tuesday, major indexes climbed, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both advancing over 1%. Interestingly, treasury yields also rose alongside stocks, breaking the recent trend of inverse movement between the two.=
Economic data was sparse this week, but the weekly jobless claims report on Thursday showed 219,000 filings, slightly below the forecasted 223,000.
Looking ahead, next week should remain quiet. Markets will close on Wednesday for New Year’s Day but will observe regular trading hours on New Year’s Eve.
As we move into the new year, we remain optimistic about the market’s potential. We’ve set our S&P 500 target at 7,000 and are confident in that outlook.
Wishing you a joyful end to the holiday season and quality time with loved ones.
Have a fantastic weekend!
