This Week’s Market Recap… 📊
The market is setting up for a bullish run. The narrative is shifting, and there are several reasons why.
The CPI report came in hot on Wednesday, triggering an immediate sell-off. Treasury yields jumped 10 basis points, and equity markets dropped 1%. But by the end of the day, the market had fully reversed, with the Nasdaq closing in the green.
January CPI tends to run higher due to seasonality, and that’s likely what we saw in this report. The market digested the data and ultimately responded positively.
Adding to the momentum, President Trump tweeted about discussions with Vladimir Putin regarding a potential Ukraine peace deal. If a resolution is reached, energy prices could drop significantly—directly easing inflationary pressures. Since higher energy costs drove much of the CPI spike, their decline could cool inflation, push treasury yields lower, and lift equities.
Another bullish signal? The rise of the new "Lag 7." The original Mag 7 has struggled in 2024, with five of the seven stocks in the red. Yet, the market is up over 3%, indicating long-awaited broadening. This could be a major shift after years of concentrated leadership.
The most critical driver, however, remains earnings. With earnings season nearly complete, 77% of companies have beaten estimates. Growth is projected at 13% this year and next, with potential for upside surprises.
Volatility will persist, but the setup for 2024 looks strong. Stay positive, stay invested, and remain optimistic.

Have a Blessed Weekend!
